Project Overview
Construction of a new substation and switching station to support the rapid population, industrial and commercial growth of the Marsden Park precinct and the broader Western Sydney region. The project formed part of critical electricity infrastructure upgrades to improve network capacity and reliability.
Scope
Construction of high-voltage (HV) substations, switching stations and transmission connection infrastructure.
Civil and structural works including bulk earthworks, foundations, drainage and stormwater systems, conduits, firewater systems, oil containment systems and tanks.
Civil Balance of Plant (CBoP) and Electrical Balance of Plant (EBoP).
Installation of primary electrical plant including power transformers, circuit breakers, disconnectors, surge arresters, instrument transformers, busbars, capacitor banks and harmonic filters.
Secondary systems including protection, control and automation systems, relay protection panels, SCADA and communications systems, metering, fibre optic networks, control buildings and auxiliary AC/DC systems.
Earthing and lightning protection systems.
Testing and commissioning, energisation and grid connection works
Contribution
As National Bid Manager, I led the bid process from opportunity assessment through to contract award, coordinating multidisciplinary inputs across engineering, estimating, procurement and operations teams. This included developing the tender strategy, engaging subcontractors, preparing methodologies and resourcing strategies, managing RFIs and tender clarifications, and delivering a compliant and competitive submission.
Key Achievements
Developed a competitive submission for a major transmission infrastructure project, strengthening relationships with Transgrid and positioning the business for future opportunities in the energy sector.
